Shakti Gardens is continually evolving and changing, we did experience is small downturn last year, but we believe the change in the economy is now definitely creating a more positive energy and awareness for this year.

We are please to have with us a Dakini from the Advait Tantra School - Shekina Moondancer - who is well versed in the Sacred Healing Arts. She also brings with her different skills in that she utilises card reading, crystals etc. Not only does she offer physical bodywork and healing, but she also teaches, counsels and trains others with regards to Tantra, thus enabling them to have a better understanding of Tantra and its principles, as well as assisting them to create a deeper awareness of themselves, their energies, and their wellness.

Shekina offers an introductory session, as well as a full session for Tantric Healing - she only works by appointment, so we would then request that you call first to check availability.

Before you run away screaming, or delete my info from your computer, stop, think, absorb.

How many couples love to play around during foreplay, how many like to use the imagination and creativity they have been blessed with? Yes we have been blessed with options, with creativity, with imagination!

This is not something that is offered to everyone, nor is it part of my regular healing. it is a very specific need that has to be addressed, nurtured, exposed and dealt with in a caring dignified manner. But the results can be life changing for some.

FORA - Friends of Rescued Animals

Hi all,

Attached is an ad from FORA for their fundraiser scheduled at Walkhaven on Saturday 21 November 2009.

As you may have heard FORA have to vacate their property by December this year and are desperately trying to raise R3,5 million to buy their own property to house the 600 dogs and 200 cats that they look after (see their appeal below for full details). They are therefore appealing for help for donations and the like.

Vivienne Jones of FORA had a really great idea: She thought it would be wonderful for the public to have a head, neck and shoulders massage while their pets have Reiki. I am writing to you to see if some of you would be interested in offering Reiki to the animals at their fundraiser at Walkhaven on 21 November. The cost to the public could either be fully or partly donated by the practitioner to FORA. We’re still trying to get more details, eg. if we offer Reiki there we would require a secluded area where we can work, the type of stalls they are planning, etc.

If you know of others who practice Reiki, please could you forward this to them as well. We’re obviously also working on getting some therapists together to do massage on the animals’ caretakers and if you have anyone in mind, again please forward.

FRIENDS OF RESCUED ANIMALS (FORA) - HOMELESS BY CHRISTMAS

WITHOUT YOUR HELP

Pro-life animal rescue centre FORA needs R3.5m and must find a new property by Christmas for 600 dogs and 200 cats after the sale of the Roodepoort property leased to founder Marlene de Beer six years ago by benefactor Bill Joffe in memory of his wife Francis Petlyn.

“We are definitely not closing, we are relocating, just as soon as we raise enough funds and finalise the right property”, says Breggie van Loggenberg, FORA manager since the death of Marlene de Beer from cancer in 2005.

Several possible properties have been identified but the amount of R3.5 million is desperately needed to finalise a new home.

FORA has helped animals and animal-lovers across Gauteng and as far afield as Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town, becoming known for their willingness to go the extra mile and take in any needy creature, even incurring medical costs to heal a sick animal when the bank account is empty.

“We receive wonderful support from the community and businesses, but no funding from government. We rely on faith a lot of the time and, although we witness tragedy and suffering, we also experience miracles and the daily joy of helping and homing rescued animals”, says Breggie.

Although finding R3.5 million and the right property in a few short months will be FORA’s greatest leap of faith to date, the organisation has already raised R100 000 in the first three days.

“We have helped thousands of animals and people in six successful years on this property and if just 3 000 people give us R1 000 each and 5 000 people give us R100 each, we will have reached our target,” she says.

“We will be deeply grateful for any help, even the smallest donation of money or materials,” she continued.

FORA will hold an Open Day on Saturday 3 October from 12 noon at their present property below Westgate and invites their many friends and supporters to join them and pledge whatever support they can.

· FORA takes in rescued, abandoned and lost dogs and cats, offering them a safe haven to live out their lives if they do not find new homes or are not reclaimed by their original owners.

· The enclosures and runs have adequate space for the dogs and cats to lead comfortable lives and they are regularly exercised.

The dragon represents our raw instinctual power, our primal connection to the elements, our uninhibited expression. It is the dragon in us that can roar in ecstasy when we make love. It is the dragon that can dance with abandon, in tenderness and in magnificence. In oriental mysticism our vital life force, our sexuality, is seen as dragon power or chi. Without access to the dragon power, to the raw potency of our eroticism, we lack the vitality to live our lives fully, and to endure the challenges that come on a path of awareness.

Nectar

Nectar is the pure juice of presence that flows when our dragon power gets filled with awareness. The raw energy of the dragon needs to be cultivated; the dragon needs to be tamed so that its power becomes useful rather than destructive to those with whom it shares company.

This intensive will be an opportunity to open up the flow of your dragon power, your raw sexual energy - and then to refine this dragon juice into the nectar that feeds the sweetest quality of presence and awakeness in your life. For this we will use a combination of Tantric methods:

breath work

Shakti, the presenter

Shakti is a member of the Advait Tantraschool (tantraschool.co.za). She has a full and lively practice based in Cape Town and has been running retreats across South Africa. She has extensive experience in retreat facilitation and a deeply lived understanding of Tantric work. She holds Ph.D. in Sosial Anthropology. The venue: Drakensberg Mountain Retreat

On Conscious Sexuality

If we know how to use our sexual energy, it can take us into a beautiful flowering of the heart, into deep states of bliss and serenity. Sexual energy can also open up our authentic wildness! However, for many of us today, this potential of our sexuality is not being fully realized. Some of the common reasons are:

• We have been conditioned to suppress our natural sexuality in some way.
• Out of habit, sex has become a rushed explosion of pent-up energy, rather than an experience of loving, deepening, merging.
• Experiences that we have had in the past (these can be sexual, emotional, physical, spiritual) got stuck in the body and are blocking our energy flow.
• We are simply not in our bodies enough, loving being in our bodies enough!

The good news is that it is infinitely possible to open the flow of your natural sexuality into a consciousexpression again, no matter what your age is, and whether you have a partner or not. What it takes is a willingness to shed some illusions, and to get conscious with your life!

The retreat

This retreat is an introduction into the art of sacred sexuality. My specific intent is to design it around the participants; where you are at and what you need. I hope to make some of the basic concepts of conscioussexuality clear to you, and to give you a deep (and blissful) experience of what is possible, in your body. Since this is an introductory workshop, you will not be required to expose yourself in any way that is not comfortable for you. The retreat will also introduce you to practices that you can take into your daily life and/or into your relationship.

For those of you who have already done some work with me and would like to deepen your understanding and for those who wish to go deeper after the weekend's retreat I offer an additional day (Sunday 4 pm to Monday 4 pm) in which we can explore some more. You are welcome to bring your questions and requests.

The presenter

Shakti is a full time teacher of conscious sexuality. She has a passion for embodied awakening - using the body as an alive, responsive vehicle to help us discover the truth of who we really are. Shakti is based in Cape Town and runs workshops and retreats in Cape Town and elsewhere in South Africa. She also does private consultations. Shakti has a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology. The venue

The Osho Neo Monastery is a unique forest venue constructed and managed by people who glow with the light of awareness. Accommodation is provided in A-frame wooden huts lovingly made by the owner. The gathering hall rises up out of the forest and opens up to it on all sides. This is a back-to-nature weekend, the best way to get back into our natural sexuality - with manually heated showers, candles and fires. Food is vegetarian and always exquisite.

On female sexual energy

Sexual energy is a tremendous source of vitality and life force. When we own and live our sexual energy, we incarnate – we come to embody the goddess within. We wake up to the moment. Through our sexual flow as women, the worlds are birthed. And yet this potential lies dormant in so many of us. The snake, the kundalini, the origin of our embodied vitality, is there, at the base of the spine, but it slumbers, and it rarely gets touched.Until the wild woman in us wakes up to who she really is.

Uncoiling the snake

In my work with Tantra, an ancient eastern tradition that follows sexual energy as a doorway to consciousness, I have learnt that sexual awakening is linked to the opening of the chakras or "energy wheels" (represented by the spirals on the front page image). When the opening of the chakras happens in the body, it literally feels like an energy snake that uncoils at the base of the body and rises up through the crown of the head. For me personally, this rising brings a soft ecstasy that ripples onto the farthest shores of my life… It also brings a deep contentment with existence.

Sexual energy becomes illuminated when the repressions that block us at each of the chakras or energy points in the body are lifted. These repressions are the result of our conditioning, our patterning and the scars that are left by our life experiences. I believe that it is possible to bring our repressions to awareness and release them by working in a sacred circle of women.



What happens on the retreat

My focus is on the awakening of consciousness, not on teaching technique or improving performance (though these things follow of their own accord). I use the following methods to evoke awareness:

• We process body memories through acting and embodiment.
• We deepen awareness of female sexuality through breath work and other Tantric techniques.
• We reflect on our stories and vision our "this-here-now" realities through creating with the earth and writing.
• We meditate and do guided visualizations to deepen our awareness of essence flowing through us.
• We use sound, chanting, movements and dancing focused on a particular expression of our sexual energy to awaken the body to its inherent knowing.
• We have strong interactions with nature and the elements to reconnect us to our being-of-the-earth, the origin of our sexual energy.

The venue

The farm n'au !ma, which is run in deep respect for nature as a place of retreat and ceremony, is situated between Montague and Ladysmith, at the foot of the Anysberg. Accommodation is provided in beautiful Karoo style houses with broad verandas, fireplaces, gas stoves and fridges. There is an exquisite kloof on the farm, and some delicious dams. The night sky of the Karoo is something to experience. The farm is about 4 – 5 hours from Cape Town, and 3 hours from George.

Tantric Massage and Sensual Healing Massage

Just a reminder that what we offer at Shakti Gardens is not a "Pelvic release" nor an "Erotic Massage". Instead what you will receive is a healing process to de-stress and unwind, to bring about balance and harmony in mind, body and spirit.

Only after this is achieved can we start working along Meridian lines to enhance and raise the libido.

There is also balancing and intergration of the Chakra system with this healing process.

Nothing is rushed, we take our time and allow you to surrender into bliss!

SEXPO

Yes its that time of the year and SEXPO is almost upon us.

We had great fun last year at SEXPO, also made some wonderful contacts and friends. Unfortunately this year it wont be possible for us to be there - unless we find a last minute sponsor! The stalls this year are slightly more expensive, also they no longer have the option of the smaller stall, and thus costs are just out of our reach for now.

Hopefully next year we will bounce back, take a stall and be part of this amazing Expo!

Tantra evening and discussion

Greetings everyone

This coming Saturday 12th September we will be hosting another of our Tantra Discussion evenings with Swami Rahasya (Director of the Advait Tantra School).

We are blessed and honored to have a teacher such as Swami Rahasya bless us with his presence, and his knowledge of Tantra. As usual he will share his profound knowledge with us and help us understand and de-mystify Tantra and the teachings of Osho. Many seekers have an ongoing quest for knowledge and understanding, as well as seeking various forms of alternative healing - and thus we continue to provide a platform to assist them by providing these discussion groups as well as workshops. Please feel free to forward this newsletter on to friends who might wish to join us, or who might be curious about Tantra and Osho. Maybe invite them to join you with us at Shakti Gardens.

GODDESS WORKSHOPS & TANTRA CELEBRATION

Soon we will be hosting Goddess Workshops and possibly Medicine Wheel Workshops - these will be for women only and will be hosted by Dakini Sh'kina Moondancer. We have also been discussing and planning the possibility of a Puja, or celebration at Shakti Gardens. This will be for a mixed group and will involve meditation, breath-work, shifting energies, and Trance Dance.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

We will be needing the assistance of volunteers for the upcoming 3 day conference in November. As always, there are many different functions to be fulfilled at an event such as this. We also have to look at setting up basic catering for this event. Any suggestions will be welcome.

First Annual Conference & Gathering for Sacred Sexuality Healers Practitioners - this South African Tour and 3 day Conference on Sacred Sexuality will be happening in November, 27-29! The conference will be hosted by members of Sedona Temple and the International School of Temple Arts (Arizona) together with members of the Advait Tantra School (JHB) and members of Shakti Gardens. Having recently completed a tour of Australia, teachers of the Sedona Temple will be visiting South Africa. We will keep you informed with more details as we make progress with our planning.
